Terms of Service
Effective: 2026-06-30
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using the kariops-pulse Connector in your Claude.ai account, you accept these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Connector. These Terms apply to all users of the Connector, regardless of how you access it. Your continued use of the Connector after we post changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
You acknowledge that your use of Claude.ai is separately governed by Anthropic's own terms of service. These Terms are additive to, not a replacement for, Anthropic's terms. Anthropic is not a party to this agreement.
2. About the Connector
"The Connector" means the kariops-pulse MCP server, the dashboard UI for key management and scan history, the included tool set (currently 6 tools as documented in the README), and the scheduled monthly scans you authorize. "Adjacent services" means any additional product, integration, or service we may offer in the future that is built on top of, or works alongside, the Connector. Adjacent services are not part of the Connector and are not subject to the "free forever" commitment.
3. Free Service Commitment
The Connector is free to use. The "free" commitment applies to the published feature set of the Connector and does not extend to Adjacent services, which may carry their own terms and pricing if and when we offer them. For purposes of this Section, "published feature set" means the MCP server, the dashboard UI for key management and scan history, the tool set documented in the README at the kariops-pulse public repository as of the date you install the Connector, and the scheduled scan cadence offered at that time. Features added after your installation date are included in the "free" commitment if and to the extent they replace or extend a feature in the published feature set; new capabilities offered as Adjacent services are not. We reserve the right to set and adjust fair-use limits, rate limits, and per-tenant scan caps necessary to operate the service reliably. We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this ToS or that abuse the service.
If we ever cease offering the Connector as a free service, we will give you no less than 90 days' written notice and a data export path before any change takes effect. We will not introduce paid tiers, paywalls, or feature removal that contradicts the "free" commitment for users who installed before such notice.
4. Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK)
kariops-pulse acts as your agent in calling the LLM and search engines you have authorized (Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, Serper). You are the principal in each engine call. Your relationship with each engine provider is direct and governed by that provider's own terms of service, acceptable use policy, and rate limits. kariops is not a sub-processor, reseller, or intermediary of any engine. We do not aggregate engine traffic on our keys and we never substitute our keys for yours.
You are solely responsible for: (a) maintaining compliance with each engine provider's terms; (b) content moderation and acceptable use of any prompts you cause to be sent through kariops-pulse; (c) spending caps set at each provider's own dashboard; and (d) the lawfulness of any data you direct the connector to process.
kariops-pulse is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all warranties as to engine availability, response accuracy, completeness of citation data, or fitness for any particular purpose. Apache License 2.0 governs the software. This ToS governs the hosted service.
5. Account Security and Recovery
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. The Connector uses OAuth-based sign-in via Better Auth. If you lose access to your OAuth identity provider account (Google, GitHub, or other), account recovery is governed by that provider's own process. kariops cannot reset or bypass your identity provider. If you need help with account access, contact kari@kariops.com.
The Connector's OAuth server supports dynamic client registration under RFC 7591. This means that third-party MCP clients (applications other than Claude.ai) may register with the Connector and request authorization to access your account on your behalf. When a third-party MCP client requests authorization, you will be presented with the standard OAuth consent screen identifying the client and the scopes it is requesting. You are solely responsible for reviewing each authorization request before approving it and for verifying that you trust the third-party client and its operator. kariops does not vet, endorse, or assume responsibility for any third-party MCP client that registers via dynamic client registration or that you authorize through the OAuth consent flow. You may revoke any previously granted third-party client authorization at any time from your dashboard.
6. Sub-processors and Data Handling
We use third-party sub-processors to operate the Connector, including for application hosting, database management, error tracking, uptime monitoring, and transactional email. The full list of sub-processors, the categories of data shared with each, and the process for objecting to a new sub-processor are described in our Privacy Policy at pulse.kariops.com/privacy.
7. License and Restrictions
The kariops-pulse software is made available under the Apache License 2.0. You may view, copy, and contribute to the source code subject to the terms of that license. The Apache License 2.0 governs the software. This ToS governs your use of the hosted service at pulse.kariops.com and any associated dashboard or API endpoints we operate.
You may not: (a) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Connector at a scale that disrupts the service for other users; (b) use the Connector to facilitate illegal activity, spam, harassment, or any purpose that violates applicable law or any engine provider's acceptable use policy; (c) share your OAuth credentials or API keys with third parties; (d) attempt to circumvent rate limits, fair-use caps, or authentication mechanisms; or (e) use the kariops, kariops-pulse, or pulse.kariops.com names, logos, marks, or other branding in any manner that implies endorsement, sponsorship, certification, partnership, or affiliation with kariops without prior written permission. Nominative references to the Connector for the purpose of accurate, factual description of interoperability or compatibility are permitted, provided they do not imply endorsement or affiliation.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, KARIOPS-PULSE'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE CONNECTOR SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO KARIOPS IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. BECAUSE THE CONNECTOR IS PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE, THAT CAP IS ZERO DOLLARS ($0).
KARIOPS DISCLAIMS ALL CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, AND PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS AND LOSS OF DATA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
The foregoing limitations do not apply to liability arising from kariops's gross negligence or willful misconduct, or to any rights you have under the Oregon Unlawful Trade Practices Act (ORS Chapter 646) that cannot be waived or limited by contract. Scan outputs reflect publicly observable LLM responses at the time of scanning. They are statistical and informational. You are responsible for verifying outputs before making business decisions based on them.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless kariops, its sole proprietor, and any contractors or service providers acting on its behalf (the "Indemnified Parties") from and against any and all claims, demands, investigations, actions, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of any third-party engine API key you have configured in the Connector, including any claim by Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity, Google, Serper, or any other engine provider that your key-based usage violated that provider's terms of service, acceptable use policy, rate limits, or applicable law; (b) the brand names, queries, prompts, or other content you direct the Connector to send to any engine provider on your behalf; (c) any business, financial, or operational decision you or any third party makes in reliance on scan outputs, dashboard data, or any other information the Connector surfaces; (d) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law; and (e) your infringement of any third-party right, including intellectual property, publicity, or privacy rights.
You acknowledge that kariops-pulse acts as your agent in calling the engine providers you have authorized, that you are the principal in each engine call as set forth in Section 4, and that any liability an engine provider asserts against kariops on account of traffic originated by your keys is your responsibility to resolve. If an engine provider, regulator, or other third party pursues a claim against an Indemnified Party arising from your keys, your content, or your use of scan outputs, you will assume the defense of that claim at your expense with counsel reasonably acceptable to the Indemnified Party, or, at the Indemnified Party's option, reimburse the Indemnified Party for its reasonable costs of defending and resolving the claim. The Indemnified Party may participate in the defense of any such claim at its own expense.
This indemnification is in addition to, and does not limit, the disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability in Sections 4 and 8. Nothing in this Section requires you to indemnify an Indemnified Party for liability arising from that party's gross negligence or willful misconduct.
12. Changes
We will give you 14 days' notice of changes to these Terms by email and in-app banner. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect. Closing your account before the change date means you are not bound by the revised Terms.
